🎸 New Model Army - First Summer After [from the upcoming album 'Unbroken' (January 26th, 2024)]
"And when the madman stole the keys in the dark dead of the night
Our luck we couldn't believe, like a strange shift of the light
It’s the kindness of other people we have built our lives upon
It was the first summer after and the last summer before"
Oh I didn’t know they were breaking. That is a bummer. I really like this album but it’s definitely not for everyone. Their previous works are good too and maybe more accessible.
Can't remember where I found the song but I was probably given the recommendation because I love Ladytron. #IAMX is the solo project of Chris Corner from #SneakerPimps.
Been vibing to this album but feel free to send me recs to any of the newer stuff.
Yeah The Soft Moon is very unique, I think his sound is getting more industrial and experimental with each release. I prefer post-punk so some tracks are challenging for my ears but I’m glad he’s pushing the boundaries and doing his thing!
Challenging is a great descriptor, haha! If any artists come to mind, I’m curious as to what else you might recommend along a similar vein? I have Soft Moon spread across very different playlists, and some tracks just hit me right in the gut, and are best avoided. Listening to an album straight through requires a, uh, specific kind of mood, but I very much appreciate their skill and eclecticism.
I don't even know how to describe the genre. DJ guy occasionally sings plaintively over dark #Trip Hop and spooky beats. Eerie dreamy #electronic music with overlaps with #darkwave and #shoegaze. I loved the three previous albums so I am hyped for this drop. Music to listen to when your soul leaves your body.
The album is also called Cranekiss. I've known of this artist before but I played a different album on repeat, Dreaming in the Dark (2019), because that one's closer to darkwave. This is a gorgeous single and now I have go through her entire discography.
Apparently she's from #NewZealand but is now based in LA
This song was played in the ending credits of the #HorrorMovie#Nocebo. The entire album slaps and it's all about the experiences and suffering of workers and labourers. I'll post the translation in a bit since there's a word count limit on Mastodon.
@useless_modern_god Nope it's English, it's an Irish-Filipino production. Most of it is filmed in Ireland and there are some flashback scenes in the Philippines but they're subtitled.
I like the movie, it goes in really surprising places. I haven't seen another English-language horror movie covering global south labour exploitation so it deffo gets bonus points for that one.

Decent. I dig it. It’s a little more geared towards a dance club or something than NiN but with a lower BPM than some others that come to mind (Celldweller). The singer sounds a bit like Greg Puciato - a little more emo than angry.
